It all began in December 2017 when Kayla and Andre were introduced through a mutual friend. But, a few months before that, Andre followed Kayla on Instagram but didn’t say anything (how rude). A few months later, though, Andre added her on Snapchat, and that’s when things started to take off. Despite being a little unsure, Kayla agreed to go out with him, mostly because they shared a mutual friend.

Their first date didn’t go as planned. They were supposed to see Zoolights at the Lincoln Park Zoo, but a snowstorm had other ideas. Instead of walking through the zoo, they ended up at Chipotle (since Kayla thought Andre would like it because he’s Mexican). They then ended the night with some bowling (Kayla definitely won).

After a few more hangouts, things quickly progressed. On January 3, 2018 Kayla thought Andre had asked if she wanted some water. She declined, but then there was a long silence. Andre looked at her, confused, and asked, “What?” she replied, “Wait, what did you say?” He said “I asked if you would be my girlfriend.” Completely caught off guard and beyond mortified, Kayla of course said yes (just deaf girly things).

Since that moment, their bond has only grown stronger. From that awkward, adorable start to years filled with laughter, challenges, and countless memories, they’ve built a foundation of love and friendship. And now, after everything they’ve shared, they’re excited to take this next step together and begin the adventure of a lifetime.
